Switching season

Swica not paying enough? Now is the best time to switch.

Every autumn insurers publish next year's premiums — and you can cancel: basic insurance until 30 November, many supplementary plans by 30 September. That makes right now the moment for a double check: with Swica up to CHF 1300 of gym contribution is on the table. Other insurers pay up to CHF 1,300 — and a premium comparison often frees up several hundred francs on top.

SWICA & fitness: the most generous contribution in Switzerland

SWICA is the 2026 leader for fitness contributions. The often-quoted maximum of CHF 1,300 per year is real — but only by combining several supplementary products (COMPLETA FORTE, PRAEVITA and OPTIMA) at a gym with sauna or pool (otherwise up to CHF 900). With a single product the maximum is around CHF 500. PRAEVITA replaced COMPLETA PRAEVENTA for new business as of 2026; existing customers keep their PRAEVENTA benefits.

Example: if your annual membership costs CHF 800 and you have COMPLETA FORTE (90% up to CHF 500), you get CHF 450 back. With the full product combination the maximum rises to CHF 1,300.

Condition: your gym must be Qualitop / Fitness-Guide certified, and the membership must fall within your insured period. Submit the annual receipt via the SWICA app. As of 2026.

Swica fitness contribution: how to claim your refund

  1. 1

    Check your supplementary plan

The contribution comes from supplementary insurance (VVG), never from basic insurance. We check which Swica product you have — and what it pays toward your gym.

  2. 2

    Pick a recognized gym

Your gym must be recognized or certified by Swica (Qualitop, QualiCert or Fitness-Guide). We tell you whether yours qualifies.

  3. 3

    Subscribe & keep the receipt

Most insurers require a half-year or annual membership. Your membership confirmation or receipt is the proof.

  4. 4

    Submit & get paid

Submit the receipt via the Swica app or customer portal — payout usually lands in your account within a few working days.

With the right product, Swica pays up to CHF 1300 per year toward your gym membership. Whether you get the maximum — or another insurer pays more — we clarify free of charge in 15 minutes.

Important: Qualitop & QualiCert Certification

What is it?

Qualitop and QualiCert are the quality standards for fitness centers in Switzerland. Most health insurers (such as Helsana, Swica, CSS) require that your gym has one of these quality seals so they can contribute to the costs.

What do I need to watch out for?

Before you take out a membership, ask your fitness studio if it is "Qualitop-certified". Without this certification, many insurers won't pay a cent, even if you have the right supplementary insurance.

All gyms on our homepage are Qualitop or QualiCert certified. Find gym now →

Tip: Large chains like Activ Fitness, PureGym or Kieser Training are usually always certified. For smaller studios, it's worth asking.
